The book I am reading is Ellie 's Story by W. Bruce Cameron . Since Ellie was a puppy she has been trained as a search-and-rescue dog. Her purpose is to find people and save them. Throughout the book, Ellie learns more about her task in life. She comes across many distractions when working, but manages to focus on what she ' s supposed to do. Ellie sometimes gets confused about the changes and what people want from her, so that is why they continue to train. In this book, there is a scene about the El Salvadoran earthquake that struck on January 13, 2001. Many people were dead and trapped, and even more were injured. The problem in this story is similar to an event that happened in history. An earthquake on January 13, 2001 struck El Salvador, killing hundreds of people. Thousands were injured and some trapped. I am reading the book  Ellie's Story  by W. Bruce Cameron . It is about a German Shepherd named Ellie, training to become a search-and-rescue dog. She has to find people and save them. During the book, Ellie learns more about her purpose in life but still gets confused about the tasks given to her. A scene in this book reminds me of another book called Best Friend Next Door by Carolyn Mackler , which is about a girl whose best friend had just moved away making her life miserable. Now a new girl has just moved in next door, will they become friends? The girls are so alike in many ways but also very different, so will it be a good friendship or not? In Ellie's Story, Ellie is searching to find a kidnapper and bring him back to the other police officers. When her and Jakob find this man, he pulls out a gun and shoots Jakob in the stomach. He falls down and Ellie attacks the man once she realizes that he is injured. More police officers come to see what happened and call a heli...

She finds people and saves them, it's what she's meant to do. Throughout the book, Ellie learns more and more about her job as a search-and-rescue dog. She encounters many distractions while working, but manages to focus on what she is supposed to be doing. Ellie is sometimes confused about what Jakob really wants from her, but that is why they keep training. Ellie reminds me of my dog because Ellie doesn't fully understand what Jakob means when he trains her. But when she does something right, she gets a reward. This is just like my dog because he didn't understand what I meant when I was teaching him to "sit." So I kept trying to get him to do what I said.
