Text to Text - Call It Courage

Call It Courage , by Armstrong Sperry is a story about a boy named Mafatu who proves his courage to his village by going out to sea and facing his fear of the water. Mafatu did face his fear of the water but he saw a island from afar and it was completely different from his village so he went towards it.  He is injured and hungry, he climbed on top of a plateau and can see the entire island. Text to Self - Call it Courage

The book I am reading is Call it Courage by Armstrong Sperry. Call it Courage, by Armstrong Sperry, is a story about a boy named Mafatu, his mom was taken by the sea because his mom risked her life so he could live, his father is the Great Chief of Hikueru. Mafatu's greatest fear is the water since that is how his mother died, although he has that fear he knows he knows he must face it once he turns fifteen. Mafatu decides to prove he has courage and goes to sea in his canoe during the night, then a lightning storm brings a big wave upon Mafatu. Mafatu survives but he lost his knife, water, and fishing spear. Mafatu looks up ahead and there is a land, it was different from his island, it was not flat and it had peaks and green trees. The character, Mafatu reminds me of somebody I know because I had this friend who was scared of going on this ride at this water park and she was scared to go on it. We were there with a group with a group of friends so some of our friends called he...
