The book I am reading is One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus. This is story about 5 high school students who went to detention on Monday and only 4 came out alive. It seemed like and accident, but they later found out it was not. A murder investigation started and the 4 high school students that were in that detention room are all suspects. They all are very different, have secrets they want to keep, and a motive. This investigation changes their lives forever.
This book has the high school stereotypes like the jock, criminal, princess, and the brain so it is hard for me to relate it just one character from the book. For me I would have to say I relate to the characters that are the jock and the brain, Bronwyn and Cooper. I am like a mix of these characters because I do get good grades and follow the rules like Bronwyn, but I am not as involved in after school clubs and playing an instrument like she is. I relate to Cooper because Cooper plays baseball and I play softball. Also, for Cooper and me the sport we play plays a huge part in our lives.
When I first bought this book I thought it was going to a good book, but not a book that I would love. When I started getting into the plot and understanding the story I started to love this book. I never thought that a high school mystery book like this one would become one of my favorites. I love how that they used high school stereotypes to direct this book and wrote it like a journal from these four teenagers point of views. It really grabbed my attention and I enjoy reading this book.
