In the story, Keeper of the Lost Cities Exile, which is the second book to this series. Sophie is still trying to recover from a life threatening, event that she had to go through. Sophie and her friend Dex were kidnapped, and drugged, etc. That was in the past, Sophie and Dex are back now, but things are different. Everyone thought they were dead before, so Sophie discover's she and her friends special graves that were made when people thought they were gone. Once Sophie comes to understand that and is back home, she connects with something, and after lots of mind connecting she discovers an alicorn, one of the last in the world. As Sophie finally adjusts, and is back to school, she is asked a very important question by her mind coach, Alden. He takes her down to the center of the Earth, which Sophie discoverer's is not as hot as the sun which she had been taught. He tells her they are in the most confidential prison in the world, in the center of the Earth called, Exile.
I think Sophie's story in Keeper of the Lost Cities Exile, can be similar to the Hunger Games. I have not read those books, but I have seen the movies. Sophie and Katniss are both very strong female leads, they are both put into very life threatening situations. Which are most of the time with very dangerous people. Both Katniss and Sophie are stuck not only in danger zones, but in love triangles. In the book, the Hunger Games, Katniss has to choose between two boys, Peeta, and Gail. In Keeper of the Lost Cities, Sophie doesn't know who to chose out of her friends, Keefe, Fitz, and Dex. Sophie and Katniss have connections with all their options. Both of these girls are also very stubborn, they get anxious, and scared sometimes. They always manage to get through it with their special skills.
I like the way the author doesn't always make Sophie save the day, Sophie fails sometimes, and she lies, and she is a normal girl (elf). This makes the story more relatable because you can really connect with making mistakes, and learning from them. Although it is a natural thing to do, I so wish that Sophie didn't lie so much, because it always gets her into trouble. If I were Sophie right now I would be so scared, she is going into a prison. The most classified prison with the most dangerous people. I don't know what is going through her mind right now. I think the setting, in the core of the Earth is important because it shows how classified the prison is. Sophie is a really brave elf.
