Text to Text- The Injustice

The Injustice , by James Patterson is a book that is really modern and you can relate to. It is about this kid named Theo who got framed for posting a photo and got expelled. His friend Jude was also apparently in the photo but it wasn't him. Sasha is another character who was framed for steeling 80 pounds of quarters from a vending machine. Then there is Parker is is the jock of the book who is the main person in the infamous picture. Theo has an idea to make a documentary trying to solve the mystery of who framed the kids. The book will lead the reader on an interesting path of pointing fingers of who did it. The Injustice is similar to any book that has a mysterious plot line. There are so many other books around the world that have one mystery that will reveal to a whole big thing. At the end of the book a huge scandal is proven that changes the why anything was thought before. It will shack your whole why of thinking in the best way possible that just is amazing. There are so...

Text to Text- Until Friday Night

I'm reading the book Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines. This novel is the first part of a 5 part series called Field Party. This book is about how a girl named Maggie who became mute when her mother died but as she got to a new town with new people she fell in love with her cousins best friend. His name is West. Maggie and West had kissed at the first field and now both Maggie and West are attached to each other. But West has a secret that he's been keeping from everyone. His father is dying and he has connected with Maggie because she has lost a parent too. This scene reminds me of the book Until Friday Night because it shows that everyone can learn to love even if you have lost someone you lost. This reminds me of Maggie and West because they have both lost a parent and started to hate themselves. Maggie was alone when she had lost her mother. West had someone which was Maggie when his father had died. West father had loved Maggie because he was making West happy. This b...

Text to Text-The underdogs

I can connect  The Underdogs  by mike Lupica to we are marshal. The book The Underdogs is about a kid named well trying to save his football team What happened to his team is that they didn't have enough money to do a new season so he contacts everyone he can he can't find anything until he contacts the shoe company that decides to fund their team they have to rebuild a new team He goes door-to-door trying to find players trying to find coaches for his brand new team so he can beat Castle Rock in the championship game The book The Underdogs reminds me of the movie We Are Marshall because in both movies they have to restart their team and find new coaches after a tragic accident and it shows how they deal with everything And the book underdogs they don't have enough money to fund their team so they have to restart and in the movie We Are Marshall all their teammates are on a plan except for a few of them and the plane crashed and it killed everybody...

Text to Text - Elevation

The book I have been reading since my last post is Elevation by Stephen King . Since my last reading a lot has happened. Scott Carey still has his disease and rapid weight loss and his friend Bob still can't find a name for this disease. As the days pass Scott is gradually losing more weight each day. In addition to this he finds that his body is still not shrinking and that he feels light but doesn't look that way. Along with this new lightness he finds he can jump very high and swing on tree branches and lights in his house, and he also has more energy. He ends up competing in a 12 k in his city to test his new abilities. Along with Scott, his neighbor Deidre whom he is still on bad terms with is competing along his side as she is a former Olympic runner. As they start the race he stays in the middle for the first 8 kilometers and then starts to speed up to the front with Deidre and they are neck and neck. For the last kilometer they both give it all they got to beat each ot...

Text to Text- Old School Grit to GOAL!

I am reading the book  Old School Grit  and connecting it to GOAL!  This book is about a coach named Flanagan in his 43rd season as a basketball coach at St. Rita's. Coach Flanagan is in his last season because he was diagnosed with cancer. His team is qualified for the national basketball tournament and goes very far as an underdog. The movie goal is about a young man playing soccer in a city league and then he got recruited by a England coach to play on a professional team.  The scene in the GOAL! is similar to a situation in Old School Grit because in goal the character Santiago is getting a call for making his drams come true and is getting the chance to play professional soccer. The Old School Grit is connectable to GOAL! because coach Flanagan was able to get his dream to come true and getting to the national championship in the national march madness tournament. This situation reminded me of a similar situation I was in because I wanted to put a trophy in the...
The book I am reading is This Isn't What It Looks Like by Pseudonymous Bosch.   It is about a girl who eats chocolate then time travels. She is trying to make it back to modern day and she is back in jester times times and she has to adjust and get back to her time. She meet a relative to help her get back and then she finds a monocle and it was able to give her double vision and she can see things farther and see through things. Cass also sees the King and in the wagon there is a chest and the chest fell and the people didn't notice and she used her monocle to see through the chest.           Cass at times remind me of Sherlock Homes because Cass is very observant and she doesn't miss a clue. She also reminds me of Sherlock Homes because she has to put together clues in order to get back to her time period. One scene in the book when she is still trying to adjust to a new time it reminds me of back to the future and he was trying to adjust the how dif...

Text to Text One of Us is Lying

One of Us is laying by Karen M. McManus is the book that I am reading and I will be connecting it to the movie The Breakfast Club. This a story about five high school students who went into deletion on Monday and only only four ended up coming out. A murder investigation started and the four that came out are suspects. The movie The Breakfast Club is about Five high school students who had Saturday detention and end up becoming friends. Because of them becoming friends they do know what school be like when they return Monday morning. Both the Breakfast Club and One of Us is lying has the high school stereotypes the brain, the jock, the princess, the criminal and the outcast. Another way they relate to each other is in The Breakfast club Andrew and Allison end up liking each other and so does John and Claire while in One of Us is Lying Bronwyn and Nate end up liking each other. These people liking each other seems very odd to the people around them because they are very different and ...

Text to Text- Until Friday Night

I'm reading the book "Until Friday Night" by Abbi Glines. This book is very entertaining and very cute. It's about a girl named Maggie who lives with there cousin named Bradley and they go to school together. Maggie isn't really mute girl and doesn't really talk. Bradley doesn't really want people to talk to Maggie or show her around. Will Maggie find the love of her life? Will her cousin get mad at her?  Read this book to find out what happens! This scene of the book is similar to "Under the lights"  because in both books she doesn't want people to bother her about her personal life. She wants to be left alone and do her own thing. Maggie from "Until Friday Night" reminds me of myself because we both want to do our own thing. I might not be as quiet as her but when she gets annoyed she wants to be by herself or when she meets a guy she wants to get to know them more. Bradley reminds me of one of my friends because he tries to kee...

Text to Text - Dead End in Norvelt

Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos is about a kid named Jack Gantos that has a problem. Whenever he gets startled or he gets scared out of nowhere his nose starts to bleed. In the beginning of the story, his Summer starts, and school is out. He is then told that he is going over to his neighbors house for tutoring. The next day he is outside with a gun that he never realized was loaded and it accidental shot. He passed out and woke up with a bloody nose.      This scene reminds me of a movie named Major Payne . This scene reminds me of this movie because Major Payne is about a general going to war but is taken out and makes a squad called the "Green Boys". The "Green Boys" try their very best top get Major Payne gone, they try to do whatever they can but he stays strong and the "Green Boys" improve their very best.      Some thoughts that I had was that Jack has a very hard life to live and that since the incident of the gun shot th...

Text to Text-Where She Fell

Where She Fell is a book by Kaitlin Ward, Where She Fell ,there are many connections that can be made from other books. Some books that could have a connection to is The Collector because they both are based on almost the same topic. Most books have similar topics to this but some are more similar to this text than others. Although this book is one of a kind there are some similar books that have many similarities with this one,Where She Fell.      One of the scenes in this book reminds me of a scene in The Collector because both of the main characters end up getting stuck in a position they don't want to be in. Another scene that reminds me in The Collector is when Eliza meets new people and starts talking to them. But in The Collector Josie the main character meets new people at her new school and also talks to them. Also both characters n each book are outgoing and are kind to their siblings and other people. So each character has a lot of courage ...

text to text,Eggs

The book I am reading is Eggs by Jerry Spinelli. In my recent reading of the book Primrose and Dave have definitely gotten much closer. They have been doing various activities together and hanging out non-stop. In the last few days of my reading they have gotten in a fight just as I suspected would happen. They are doing little to no speaking to each other which is very sad because they were best friends. This situation where Primrose and David are in a fight is similar to the movie The Edge of Seventeen. It is similar because in both the book and film two best friends get in a fight and stop talking. In the book Eggs David and Primrose get i a fight over someone who is very close to them, their dads. In the movie Nadine and Krista also get in a fight over someone who is very close to them, Nadine's older brother. Both in the book and movie the two best friends get in a fight over their family issues which is bad because it possibly can ruin their friendship. I was surprised whe...

Text to Text - Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets

The book that i've been reading so far, if the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling. The story is a continuation of the first book The Sorcerer's Stone. It follows the story of the Golden boy being named Harry Potter. In which, he and his friends are trying to look for what is causing all of the muggle student to freeze up. Before time runs out and the Ministry shuts down Hogwarts. So, with that information they have a whole bunch of problems going on besides the main problem.    The entire book reminds me of Percy Jackson The Lightning by Rick Riordan. First of all, the Chamber of Secrets and The Lightning Thief are similar because, both characters are in search of something with great importance. Percy Jackson and his friends our looking for the person who stole Zeus’s lightning rod. Harry Potter and all of his friends try to look for the person who had opened the Chamber of Secrets. So, both of the groups are both going on an epic journey to look for the missi...

Text to Text- Leap

Taking Flight and Leap, has a connection because they both have to deal with a little girl wanting to do her dream. Their dream was to do ballet. In both the book and the movie they are orphans, but soon get adopted. They both had a dream of being an ballerina and they both got what they wanted. They didn't give up their dream they worked hard, and they had full courage of it. They both had gone to classes and had special teachers to help on their journey. The main character of " Taking Flight " is a girl named " Michaela DePrince" she is now a famous ballerina, she reminds me of Simone Biles. The reason why she reminds me of her is because she is always trying her best, and she is always positive. On the movie Leap, the girls name is Camille, and she is so sweet and she likes to d things on her own so she reminds me of, Michaela DePrince. They both had had ruff lives as younger people but they grew up to be amazing star ballerinas. One scene in the movie Leap...

Text to Text-Among the Barons

In Among the Barons, Luke, or Lee, is an illegal 3rd child child. He and Smits both try to get away from their parents evil plan. The parents wanted to kill Luke, but Smits didn't want to die. In the end they are able to solve the problem, but there is another problem that starts. Oscar is starting to kill people and they need to stop him before it's too late. This scene reminds me of when I was reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid, when he makes a big scene. In the book the big scene that is made is when Oscar kills the Grant parents and everyone is around. I have read many books with big scenes in them. In conclusion, I think that Luke, Trey, and Smits need to buckle down and find Oscar. They can't turn him because they will get in trouble. But they can still convince him to stop killing people. He already said that he wants to kill the president because of the stupid laws he makes. I think in the next book he is going to kill the president.

Text to Text - Call It Courage

Call It Courage , by Armstrong Sperry is a story about a boy named Mafatu who proves his courage to his village by going out to sea and facing his fear of the water. Mafatu did face his fear of the water but he saw a island from afar and it was completely different from his village so he went towards it.  He is injured and hungry, he climbed on top of a plateau and can see the entire island. While he was up he saw smoke in the distance and wonders if he is on the island of “the eaters of men” that his grandfather told him about. Then, Mafatu sees a trail that is made by men, he followed the trail that led to a sacred place. In Call It Courage Mafatu finds an island different from his, there was trees, peaks, it wasn’t flat land, and it was different from his own village. This scene reminds me of a scene from a book I am reading in a different class, called Kon-Tiki because in both books they go to islands that are different from theirs and they both explored it. For both characte...

Text to Text - Ellie's Story

I am reading the book  Ellie's Story  by W. Bruce Cameron . It is about a German Shepherd named Ellie, training to become a search-and-rescue dog. She has to find people and save them. During the book, Ellie learns more about her purpose in life but still gets confused about the tasks given to her. A scene in this book reminds me of another book called Best Friend Next Door by Carolyn Mackler , which is about a girl whose best friend had just moved away making her life miserable. Now a new girl has just moved in next door, will they become friends? The girls are so alike in many ways but also very different, so will it be a good friendship or not? In Ellie's Story, Ellie is searching to find a kidnapper and bring him back to the other police officers. When her and Jakob find this man, he pulls out a gun and shoots Jakob in the stomach. He falls down and Ellie attacks the man once she realizes that he is injured. More police officers come to see what happened and call a heli...

Text to Text- The Couple Next Door

The book I'm reading is The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. This book is about a lovely couple that lives in a nice neighborhood with their newborn baby. When one night they are invited to a dinner party with the couple next door. Once they go they decide to leave the baby at the house and go and check in on her in between times. Once they get back home they are soon to discover that the baby is gone! Blame is immediately put on the parents but Detective Rasbach knows its something much more. Once investigating they soon to find out that it was the husband but he wasn't the only one with a plan. We soon to find out that another family member is involved with the "kidnapping" of baby Cora. The scene where Anne (the wife) finds out that Marco (the husband) is the one who faked the kidnapping of their baby reminds me of the betrayal that the husband (Tom Krupp) felt when finding out that his wife (Karen Krupp) was doing illegal things and that she wasn't telling ...

The 100 Cupboards: The Chestnut King

In the series The 100 Cupboards, I have moved on to book 3 ( The Chestnut King ) since I have last posted. This book talks about the main character (Henry York Maccabee) finally battling the evil witch Niamine. Niamine has currently taken over the king and his kingdom. (the magical world in which Henry lives in.) Her evil is slowly consuming the entire world as she grows stronger. It is up to Henry to stop her, and take down her wickedness with the help of the Chestnut King and his armies of Faren. in exchange for the Chestnut King’s help, Henry must take the place of him and rule the world of the Faren until Henry himself dies. As I read this book, I am reminded of the series “ The School for Good and Evil ” which is also about a magical world of fairy tales. The two main characters themselves are evil and good. They command their own magical powers as well. These two books are similar in my opinion because of the magic used in the two books. Each person has their own kind of magic...

Text to Text - I Have a Bad Feeling About This

I am currently reading the book  I Have a Bad Feeling About This  by Jeff Strand. This book is about a 16 year-old boy named Henry Lambert who goes off to Survival Camp despite his protests. His dad says that he is a "Wuss" because he has a lot of fears and would rather be playing video games than going outside. He ends up having to do all of these crazy things like shooting bow and arrows, killing people and many other things. There are bad people that come and kill their camp leader and they have to fight for survival.        This book reminds me of the book and movie Holes by Louis Sachar. This is because they go to a camp to become better. They both experience near death experiences and have to fight for survival. The camp leaders are both bad people but in I Have a Bad Feeling About This, the camp leader is kind of good but ends up dying. They are both very good books and very adventurous. These kids learn a lot of life lessons and mature through...

if your reading this its too late

"If you're reading this it's too late" is by pseudonymous bosch , is about a fight between max-ernst and ms.mauvais the two main characters . The book starts off with the narrator talking about a secret being let out and could cause danger to the reader and the person in the story , making the plot thicken and making the reader wonder "what's the secret" . in the book so far whats happens is , one of the main characters named max is in a very lucid dream that she wakes up from , feeling like she's being haunted by the thought of the evil ms.mauvais . This character reminds me of me because i myself have nightmares all the time . In the beginning of the story one of the main characters has a nightmare about something she is very scared of . The same thing happens to me very frequently ,some of my fears will come to life in my dreams making me feel haunted . Also as the main character is in this dream she very lucid being able to control what she...

Text to Self-Among the Barons

I am reading Among the Barons by Margaret Peterson Haddix . This book is about a boy who go's to school as a 3rd child. A third child is when the child is illegal so the parents give the child a different name. The name that Luke gets is Smits brother's name that died, Lee.  In the story, the boys that go to the school, go to that certain school because they are scared and fearful. The boys go through different trials to help them get rid of their fear. The situation reminds me of a time when I was 6, when we had foster kids. We had two sets of two foster kids. It was a lot of work for my parents because they had to take care of 5 kids at once, and me and my sister weren't old enough to help. It was a tough time and we ended up not doing it anymore. It helped me overcome my fear of having to many siblings. I had a thought while I was reading. Why would Smits want to get rid of Oscar if he is protecting him? I thought that maybe Oscar is abusing him or he is just plain m...

Text to Self ~ Keeper of the Lost Cities

I just finished reading Keeper Of the Lost Cities , which is the first book of Shannon Messenger's series. The book series has eight books so far. I am currently reading the second book of the series. The book is about a 12 year old girl named Sophie. She has been able to read minds since she hit her head really hard when she was 5. For the protection of herself she keeps it a secret. When she is out and about she sees a boy, as a group of small kids walk by their thoughts give her a headache, forcing her to push her head to cease the pain. Looking up, she sees that the boy did the same thing. They leave the building and he tells her that she is a telepath (mind reading ability) and that she is an elf. Her whole life changed as she leaves her family to forget about her, and moves to the lost cities to attend Fox Fire, a school for the elves. As the story continues her life is put in danger throughout many adventures with her friends. Near the end of the book, her and...

Text to Self - Among the Barons

The book that I'm reading is Among the Barons by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Among the Barons is a the fourth book to the seven shadow children novels. These novels are about a boy named Luke living in a society where a family can only have two children. While a family can only have two, he was the third. Because of this he has been hiding mostly his whole life. Then later, he gets an ID card. This has his last name of the Barons. Luke reminds me of myself, I think this way because when someone is gone for like a play or something, if I have to I will take their spot. Tyler did this in the story, when he went to school, He took Lee. I always think twice about what I do. And Luke does that as well, but it doesn't always go as planned. One thing that I was wondering about this story was about where this all takes place. All of he time it seems dark, and so mysterious. I noticed that Tyler is also very self conscious. He is always worried weather he does something right or wro...

text to self,Eggs

The book I am reading is Eggs by Jerry Spinelli. So far in the story we have met the two main characters, Dave and Primrose. Dave is nine years old and Primrose is thirteen years old and they are best friends. They have both gone through some very traumatic family events at a young age which is one way they can relate. They are starting to hang out more and more because Primrose has a task she is trying to accomplish and Dave is trying to help. Although they are very close they argue a lot about very personal things and the arguments have been getting worse.  We have also met two supporting characters, Dave's grandmother, and Refrigerator John, one of Primroses close, but much older friend. The character Primrose reminds me of myself because she does not like discussing sad events that happen in her life with others. Primrose went through a very upsetting event at a young age dealing with her father. Although she can remember every little detail and carries around a picture of hi...

Text to Self: Elevation

The book I am reading is Elevation by Stephen King . This book, a short but compelling story is about main character Scott Carey, who has a strange disease that causes him to lose weight at a rapid pace. Scott begins to make an interesting discovery that no matter what he wears he always weighs the same and no matter how much he eats he doesn't gain weight. So far, He has only told his friend Bob Ellis who was a former doctor that can't put a name on his disease, and is extremely fascinated with the fact that when Scott stands on the scale with weights he is still the same . In addition with his disease he is also in a battle with his neighbors next door Deidre McComb and Missy Donaldson who's dogs keep doing their business on his lawn. When Scott confronts his neighbors about their dogs Deidre becomes angry and wants nothing to do with Scott. As his life goes on he continues to lose weight at a rapid pace of about 2 pounds a day, and is scared of the day that he hits 0 lb...

Text to self. Heat

I am reading the book Heat by Mike Lupica. The book is about a boy name Micheal arroyo that lives in the slums and plays baseball. He lives in a house with is brother carlos. The baseball games he plays in are always very hot. The book is called heat because he is faced with challenges with his every day life. For example, he only lives with his brother that is 17 that is never home.  Micheal reminds me of my self because he is 12 and he can throw hard and i am the same way but is football. When Micheal brother is never home it reminds me when my parents are not home and i am some what home alone. Carlos reminds me of my neighbor because he has too works all the time. I began to think that Micheal's brother is gonna be a key part in his life. I wish hat Micheal family move with him because i think that would impact is life and he would be there for him.If is was Micheal i would try to move out of the slums. I don't understand where his family is like his dad and mom. I ...

Text to Self - The Couple Next Door

The book I'm reading is The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. The story is about a happily, married couple named Anne and Marco Conti. One night they were at a dinner party while their newborn baby was in the house next door when a terrible crime is committed. Blame is immediately fall on the parents. But the truth is so much more complicated. Someone had kidnapped their baby. Who would kidnap their baby? Where is she? Find out everything in the depths of this suspenseful book. One of the main characters, Anne, reminds me of my mom. The reason she reminds me of my mom is because both of them are new moms and love their baby a lot. Detective Rasbach reminds me or me because whenever something doesn't make sense we both do everything to tr and put all the pieces in the puzzle. Anne and Marco remind me of another couple named Karen and Tom Krupp from A Stranger in the House. I think they are similar because one person from each couple betrays each other and they both go through ...

In the regular world Cass's best friend Max is trying to wake up Cass and he is worried. In order to come out of the coma she needs to right a wrong her ancestors did.            This character reminds me of one of my friends because she always rights her wrongs and she is responsible and she is a very honest person. She also is a good problem solver and is very smart and independent.Max reminds me of me because he is very helping and cares about his friends and also always lends a helping hand. One of the scenes in the book are similar to so...

Text to Self-Where She Fell

The book that I am reading is Where She Fell by Kaitlin Ward. This story is about a girl who goes on a trip with her friends. But little did they know it wasn't going to be a normal trip, where the ground just fly's off you feet and your deep deep down in a sinkhole.Where your helpless and don't know where you are where your friends and family are. All you know is your trapped, hurt, scared in a deep dark sinkhole and you can't see anything, you hear everything. But little did they know that one of them would fall, but once you fall your not alone.      The main character in this book reminds me of my friend because the main character in the book is scared at first and stays in the same place. Just like my friend when she does not know where she is and is scared she just stays in that same place. But the main character after a while finds the confidence to get up and start to see where she is and try to find a place out and just basically starts explori...

Text to self-The underdogs

The book that i am reading is The Underdogs by Mike Lupica what this book is mostly about is there is this 12 year old kid named Will he is a football player in the town of F orbes, Pennsylvania. He might not be the biggest kid on the field but oh man he can fly. Will is trying to save his football team from closing down bye doing everthang he can to rase money so he can play another session.        The main character Will reminds me of myself because will is a football player for his school as a half back and his favoret football team is the Pittsburgh  steelers.I am a half back for my schools football team i am in 8th grade and so is Will and we both like the steelers. Will on is schools football team was really good and scored a lot of touchdown for his team and on my team i had the most touchdowns than anyone on our school team so that is why i can connect my self to Will         i began to think that if Will ...

Text to Self- Tale of Two Cities

The book that i've been reading for the past couple of days is Tale of Two Cities , by Charles Dickens .  Is about a time in the 1770's, during the of the after math of the french revolution. It will also be switching between both England and France through out the entire book in one. The book it's self is split into three different books; within the book. But, oddly enough it starts in a very interesting way that has to do with a man named Jerry Cruncher, a man who is very odd to begin with. To a girl living in England, thinking that her father is 'said to be dead', only to be found supposedly alive in France. And more characters in the clear. With a long journey and a heavy heart there more that await for these simple broad times of the after math.     Within the stories may characters and intricate miniature details in the story. I can connect the most with Miss Pross. Who is one of the minor going on to be a major character that is played within...

Text to Self- Until Friday Night

I am reading the book Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines. This book is the first novel of this series which is about how a girl wittiness her own father kill her mother and moves in with her Aunt Coralee and her cousin Brady. The girl is now mute because she doesn't was to speak anymore because she doesn't want to talk about what happened to her mother. I connected to Maggie because there's some days that I wanna be mute just because I don't wanna have to keep a conversation with people. Maggie is also very shy in the book and also awkward. I can be very shy and awkward all the time but mostly when i'm around a new group of people. I've never gone through something as bad as my dad killing my mom but I did watch a guy pull a knife out on my sister and we were both really scared and didn't know what to do.We quickly got over it because we did want to remember it at all because it scared us so bad.The police quickly came and arrested the boy for pulling a knif...

Text to Self - One of Us is Lying

The book I am reading is One of Us is Lying   by Karen M. McManus. This is story about 5 high school students who went to detention on Monday and only 4 came out alive. It seemed like and accident, but they later found out it was not. A murder investigation started and the 4 high school students that were in that detention room are all suspects. They all are very different, have secrets they want to keep, and a motive. This investigation changes their lives forever. This book has the high school stereotypes like the jock, criminal, princess, and the brain so it is hard for me to relate it just one character from the book. For me I would have to say I relate to the characters that are the jock and the brain, Bronwyn and Cooper. I am like a mix of these characters because I do get good grades and follow the rules like Bronwyn, but I am not as involved in after school clubs and playing an instrument like she is. I relate to Cooper because Cooper plays baseball and I play softball. A...

Text to Self - Call it Courage

The book I am reading is Call it Courage by Armstrong Sperry. Call it Courage, by Armstrong Sperry, is a story about a boy named Mafatu, his mom was taken by the sea because his mom risked her life so he could live, his father is the Great Chief of Hikueru. Mafatu's greatest fear is the water since that is how his mother died, although he has that fear he knows he knows he must face it once he turns fifteen. Mafatu decides to prove he has courage and goes to sea in his canoe during the night, then a lightning storm brings a big wave upon Mafatu. Mafatu survives but he lost his knife, water, and fishing spear. Mafatu looks up ahead and there is a land, it was different from his island, it was not flat and it had peaks and green trees. The character, Mafatu reminds me of somebody I know because I had this friend who was scared of going on this ride at this water park and she was scared to go on it. We were there with a group with a group of friends so some of our friends called he...

Text to Self -Stranded

The book that I'm reading is Stranded by Jeff Probst. This story is about these kids parents are getting married and they want to get closer together as a family. Figure out what happens in this adventurous/suspenseful book. Vanessa reminds me of myself because we are both the same age and and when something is going wrong we try our best to help fix it. Also we both want out opinions to be heard by other people and just wanted to speak out minds. Jane reminds me of my little brother. Even though Jane is a girl and my brother is a boy they both have the same characteristics. They are both very knowledgeable and just very smart for there age. Th...

Text to Self- The Injustice

The book I am reading is The Injustice by James Patterson and Emily Raymond. The Injustice is about four kids who are expelled, but aren't guilty. Theo, Jude and Parker are all expelled for a picture that got posted, it picture was posted on Theo's Twitter, Jude was in the picture for peeing on school property in the mascot costume, and Parker is intoxicated on school property. The only real one guilty is Parker, because they can't prove that Jude is guilty, and Theo was not on the Twitter. The fourth person is Sasha who got expelled for apparently steeling eighty pounds of quarters from a Coke machine, but she never had the money, and wouldn't need it because she has a job. They are all fighting to prove there innocents which they all deserve.  The Injustice reminds me of my own life. This is because a long time ago my parents where sued from a ex-employee for something they never did. My parents where accused of steeling a white work van the employee gave them and ...

Text to self - Old School Grit

I am reading the book called Old School Grit  by Darrin Donnelly. This author has 6 books and this is one of them but they are not in a series. But this book is about a coach with the name of coach Flanagan in his 43rd and last season coaching college basketball. A serious issue occurs for this coach which causes it to be his last. He was diagnosed with cancer a few months before the season started. His team is an underdog in a conference tournament to get to the national tournament. Coach Flanagan gives his team quotes a lot to motivate his team to get into the national tournament. The character in my book me of my dad because my is a coach and teaches his team a lot of lessons to help his players succeed in there season. I say this because his team does not get much attention and is an underrated team. I had this cause with my flag football team in 5th grade because we had 2 wins out of 9 games and went into a tournament and took first place in the league. I love they way the...

Text to Self- Taking Flight

The book I am reading is Taking Flight by Elaine DePrince and Michaela DePrince. This book is about a little girl who was a war orphan, and then became a star ballerina. This story is based on a real life situation, that she had to go through, but she also fought through. Her name is Michaela DePrince, and she also has a movie about her life. She has also been on Dancing with the Stars. She has a condition called " vitiligo", and that is what caused most of her problems. I don't have a personal connection to this but, there is a connection to the world, because many people in the world got discriminated against each other, and people were being excluded. Its just like back in the day when people would have separate schools, buildings, bathrooms etc. Just like Michaela kids were being bullied, just because of their skin color, just like her because she has " two " different skin colors, but its not her fault. Its not like she can do anything about it. I real...

Text to Self: The 100 Cupboards: Dandelion Fire

I am currently reading  The 100 Cupboards: Dandelion Fire  . It is the second book in the series and it is about a magical boy battling an evil power in which he had released himself in the first book of the series. In the first book, he moves in with his Aunt and Uncle after his parents are kidnapped. He soon discovers that behind the plaster in his wall are 99 hidden magical cupboards that lead to different worlds. The second book continues where the first left off.           I can connect to the main character Henry in many ways because of how he acts and feels towards his cousin Henrietta. To me, Henrietta acts like my little brother. Henrietta was one of the people who caused the huge mess that Henry now has to clean up. She also decided to go exploring the cupboards without telling anyone. In the end she ended up being captured. I believe my brother would act the same way as her if he was in the same situation....

Text to Self - Ellie's Story

The book I am reading is  Ellie's Story  by W. Bruce Cameron . Since Ellie was a puppy, she has been trained as a search-and-rescue dog by Jakob, her owner. She finds people and saves them, it's what she's meant to do. Throughout the book, Ellie learns more and more about her job as a search-and-rescue dog. She encounters many distractions while working, but manages to focus on what she is supposed to be doing. Ellie is sometimes confused about what Jakob really wants from her, but that is why they keep training. Ellie reminds me of my dog because Ellie doesn't fully understand what Jakob means when he trains her. But when she does something right, she gets a reward. This is just like my dog because he didn't understand what I meant when I was teaching him to "sit." So I kept trying to get him to do what I said. And when he did, I rewarded him with a treat, and told him he was a good boy. The dog-sitter Georgia, reminds me of me because she loves dogs an...

Text to Self Example

Text to Self Sample   I am reading the  book   Beautiful Creatures  by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. This book is part 1 in a series of books about a small town boy who falls for the “new girl” in town. Only this isn’t any regular girl. She is a “castor” or a witch, she has special powers. When she moves into town they realize they have a strong connection. The problem is she is different from everyone else. When she turns 16 fate decides whether she will be a dark or evil castor or a light castor. The closer it gets to her 16th birthday the crazier both of their lives get. I had a strong connection to Lena this story. No, I am not a castor with magical powers or anything but she is different. Now, because she is different she isn’t treated very nice by her peers at school. When I was in middle school I had peers that weren’t so nice to me. They would tease me because I didn’t have the brand name clothes or because I wore glasses. They made it so I did...
